Independent reading book

My independent reading book is The Ranger's Apprentice by John Flangan. I chose to begin reading this book because my friend introduced it to me, but I continued to read it because The Ranger's Apprentice is a battle-type of book, it is non fiction, and there is a lot of action. Also, there is a lot of suspense involved in the book, and you are always wondering what will happen next.

Another reason I like The Ranger's Apprentice is because of the setting and time period. It takes place in the medieval time period, when people are trying to survive, and kingdoms are being built, while other kingdoms are fighting for power, land, and wealth.

One shot at forever- Chris Ballard

One shot at forever is a story of a baseball team from a small high school, in a small town called Macon in rural Illinois. This baseball team has never gone to regionals, never gone very far. Lyne Sweet, a 29 year old English teacher, is the coach of the Macon ironmen baseball team, and no one on the school board really likes him. He uses some unusual teaching and coaching methods, but it is obvious that his strategies are working. The baseball team went 16-2 the first year Sweet was coach, and some members of the school board are trying to fire him because of his unusual behavior.

The first year the team made it to regionals, the scoring hitter, Roush, was not on the official baseball roster. And the Macon Principal just happened to recognize this right when the team qualified for regionals. And this principal later on admitted that he wasn't very supportive of the baseball team, because he was past baseball coach and was jealous of Lyne Sweet. And so the next year, they went even farther.
